Disciplines: Generic, Latin

Usually abbreviated as: ibid., or ib.

A Latin term meaning "the same place".

The term is often used in footnote and endnote citations as a substitution for the immediately preceding source. If a source is cited as "ibid.", it means that the source is "the same" as the preceding one.

The point of using ibid in citations is to avoid unnecessary repetition.
