Two opposing yet complementary forces that interact in the cosmos. Yin is female, passive cold, dark, while yang is masculine, warm, and light in nature. The two balance each other and are complementary in the sense that darkness cannot exist without light and vice versa. Everything in the universe has yin and yang aspects, and a balance between the two forces brings harmony.
