Official name: The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms

The international convention that drafted by the Council of Europe with the aim to protect human rights and freedoms in Europe, and signed on 4 November 1950 by the member states.

It came into effect on 3 September 1953.

The Convention also established the European Court of Human Rights.
